We are fortunate to have meaningful work that genuinely benefits our clients and local community. With every transaction, The Strum Group donates to wonderful Charities who work tirelessly to improve the lives of others. By working with The Strum Group, you support Connor’s Heroes, Full Circle and Richmond Friends of the Homeless just to name a few.
Connor’s Heroes was founded in 2006 in honor of a little boy named Connor Goodwin, who triumphed after a long battle with cancer. Connor’s parents decided to start Connor’s Heroes Foundation as a salute to all of the HEROES in their lives and as a way to help others through their childhood cancer journey.
Richmond Friends of the Homeless was formed in 1986 to strengthen and enrich the community life of the underprivileged and homeless in Richmond, Virginia.
Full Circle was established in September 2008 by Allyson Drake, M.Ed., CT, as a comprehensive grief resource center for children, adults, and families. Full Circle is very unique in its approach to bereavement care: they are the only organization in Richmond to provide bereavement groups for extended families along with concurrent peer groups. Families learn to grieve together rather than in isolation. They are the only organization to provide professionally-led suicide loss groups and perinatal loss groups. Their goal is to add a homicide loss group and a group for those who have lost a loved one to overdose. They are also the only organization in Richmond to provide bereavement support to grieving students at their inner-city school or community organization. They combine professionally-designed grief support programs with creative expression in the form of art, music, play, dance and journaling to trigger discussions that may not have occurred otherwise.
Shalom Farms is a nonprofit organization that works with under served communities to provide healthy and affordable food through distribution programs and mobile farmers markets. They grow produce at their two farm locations in Northside Richmond and Powhatan with the help of thousands of volunteers every year. Not only do they provide healthy and affordable food for those in need, but they also educate the public on cooking skills and nutrition so they can take what they learn with them forever.
Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity is another great local nonprofit with the mission of providing affordable housing to help break generational cycle of poverty. The Strum Group loves volunteering at their build sites and making our mark on bettering the community we serve.
